Investors Demand Justice as Allegations of Breach of Trust Surface Against Yamada Taihei

(Phnom Penh) – An investor and shareholder of YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd., has submitted two formal letters to the Ministry of Justice of Cambodia, seeking intervention in a case involving Yamada Taihei, the company’s Chairman of the Board, who is accused of serious breaches of trust.

According to the submissions, Yamada Taihei, a Japanese national, allegedly misused his position to defraud shareholders and embezzle company funds. Preliminary investigations suggest that he inflated the purchase prices of multiple real estate properties, resulting in a misappropriation of around USD 4 million for personal gain and that of his associates.

The complaints also claim that Yamada Taihei acted unilaterally, bypassing the rights of other shareholders, and created fictitious business transactions, including loans exceeding USD 7 million. He is alleged to have used the names of well-known corporations to mislead investors, forged documents, and diverted large sums of money through a network of shell companies under his control. Some of the funds were reportedly transferred to a foreign bank account in the name of his wife, Ye Jun.

Further allegations suggest that Yamada Taihei established multiple shell companies across Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and Cambodia, appointing nominees as company representatives while maintaining full control over financial operations himself.

In Cambodia, Yamada Taihei and his accomplices are already facing at least two criminal cases, with several assets and bank accounts frozen by court order. Additional investigations are ongoing. Authorities in several other countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States, are reportedly examining his activities for potential financial crimes, including embezzlement, document forgery, breach of trust, and money laundering.

Through these letters, the investor urges Cambodian authorities and the courts to conduct thorough and impartial investigations, safeguard justice, and ensure that Yamada Taihei is held accountable under the law. The victim also expressed concerns about possible interference from influential figures, including some judicial actors, which could jeopardize the legal process, intimidate witnesses, or allow the accused to avoid responsibility.
